HESPEROS TOP

Quiet folds. Gentle movement. Lasting form.

Hesperos Top is a sleeveless knitted top with a relaxed silhouette, softly rounded neckline and carefully structured pleats. The combination of clean lines and subtle details gives it a tailored feel while keeping it comfortable and easy to wear.

CONSTRUCTION

Hesperos Top is knitted seamlessly from the top down. The knitting begins at the shoulders, with the neckline and upper body taking shape as you work. The front and back are then worked separately to form the armholes before being joined for the body, which is knitted in the round to your preferred length.

The neckline and its distinctive pleats are finished last, completing the structured yet softly draping silhouette.

SIZES AND FIT

XS (S) M (L) XL (2XL) 3XL

Designed for body bust measurements of:

80–84 (84–90) 90–96 (96–102) 102–110 (110–120) 120–130 cm
31½–33 (33–35½) 35½–37¾ (37¾–40¼) 40¼–43¼ (43¼–47¼) 47¼–51¼ inches

Finished bust circumference:

109.6 (114.4) 120.8 (125.6) 132 (141.6) 151.2 cm
43¼ (45) 47½ (49½) 52 (55¾) 59½ inches

The top is designed with approximately 21–32 cm / 8¼–12½ inches of positive ease, depending on where your bust measurement falls within the size range.

Choose your size based on your actual bust measurement and how relaxed you would like the fit to be. For example, with a bust measurement of 88 cm / 34¾ inches, size S gives approximately 26 cm / 10¼ inches of positive ease.

YARN

The sample is knitted in Pascuali Pinta (60% merino wool, 20% mulberry silk, 20% ramie), 212 m / 232 yds per 50 g.

I recommend a fine, lightweight fingering-weight yarn for this design. The yarn should create a relatively thin fabric, even at the required gauge, so that the pleats remain neat without becoming bulky. A thicker yarn may achieve the same gauge but produce a heavier, more pronounced pleat structure.

APPROXIMATE YARN REQUIREMENTS

750 (800) 850 (900) 950 (1000) 1200 m
820 (875) 930 (985) 1040 (1095) 1312 yds

For Pascuali Pinta, approximately 4 (4) 5 (5) 5 (5) 6 skeins.

The amounts are based on the sample length. Allow additional yarn if you prefer a longer top.

GAUGE

Body: 25 stitches × 33–34 rounds = 10 × 10 cm / 4 × 4 inches in stockinette stitch, worked in the round after blocking.

The collar is worked at a different gauge depending on the size and preferred fit. The pattern includes guidance for adjusting the collar circumference.
