Hetta (Icelandic for hood) is a cosy hood with a simple colourwork design. The pattern includes both written and charted colourwork instructions. The hood is constructed from the bottom up with a combination of knitting flat and in the round. It can worn with anywhere between 5-12.5cm / 2-5“ of positive ease depending on how slouchy you would like to wear your hood. To find your desired size add a figure within this range to your actual head circumference.

I have a 56cm / 22” head and prefer mine fitted so I’m wearing SIZE 1 with 5cm / 2” of positive ease. Icelandic yarn has wonderful water repellant and insulating properties which is why I chose it for this hood design. Some report Icelandic yarn as being scratchy but I find the unspun yarn surprisingly comfortable to wear, even up around the face.
