This Highland cow (pronounced coo in Scotland!) can be made as a single head and thistle and mounted on a wood slice for a small trophy head decoration (15- 20 cm), or you can go for it and make 5 or 6 Coo heads in different colours and several thistles, and mount on a willow wreath base for a stunning wreath.
It is made in 7 parts Plus hair.
The head is made by starting at the nose, the muzzle is made separately, and sewn into place, and a separate chin completes
the face. The horns are shaped using Increases and decreases, and sewn above little folded ears.
Finally, the hair is made by making chains and crocheting around them. The thistle flower is loops of yarn, cut and combed.
Guides on colour ways are included in the pattern. I used scheepjes Catona 25 to 50 g balls.
Use a 3 mm hook.
You will need toy filler, scissors, darning needle and strong glue, plus your choice of base on which to mount your project.
All instructions are in sc unless otherwise stated.
