Balancing interesting knitting with comfort can sometimes be a hassle, but Hikaru has solutions for both. A fun cable runs asymmetrically up the sock and the balance is of ribbing, allowing for a good amount of stretch to allow for a variety of circumferences. The foot size offers four different circumferences.

Hikaru is worked from the toe up and utilizes a short row heel. For some, a short row heel is not the best fit, so directions for an optional mini gusset have been added (socks in photos have the mini gusset). The mini gusset offers some give that a traditional short row heel lacks (if you have historically found that you do not like the fit of a short row heel).

The directions also include an adjustable leg length, with specific directions on how to work either an ankle or crew length sock (as pictured).

Materials
Yarn
Chrysalis Yarn Co Atkins Sock (463yds 423m/100g; 75% superwash merino wool, 25% nylon)
Color A: Dark Peri (used for accent toes, heels and cuffs. A 20g mini skein should suffice for sizes 1-3. The largest size may need a second mini. Recommended to get a second to ensure dye lots.)
Color B: Daydream (1 skein is recommended. It is unlikely you will use the entirety of a skein for your pair of socks, but this will depend on what size your feet are.)

Needles
US 1.5 2.5mm - circular needles long enough to work magic loop (40” recommended)
Or size to obtain gauge.

Notions
1 st marker, 2 st markers (optional for mini gusset), cable needle, tapestry needle

Gauge
36sts x 50rounds = 4” x 4” 10cm x 10cm in Stockinette Stitch, unblocked.

Sizes
1 (2, 3, 4)
To Fit: 6.5 (7.5, 8.5, 9.5)”/16.5 (19, 21.5, 24)cm foot circumference

Finished dimensions
6 (7, 8, 9)”/15 (18, 20.5, 23)cm circumference
Adjustable height and length

About sizing: Socks typically have negative ease. Handknit socks will often have less negative ease than a store bought sock. So, if you are between recommended sizes, it is suggested to choose the size with finished dimensions either smaller or closest to your actual foot circumference. EX: if your foot circumference is 7.75”, choose size 2, but if your foot circumference is 8”, choose size 3.

The leg of these socks are worked in ribbing, so they allow for a wider range of circumferences. Please choose a sock that will fit your foot.
