Hillwalker is now 2 patterns in 1 download--
the original pullover and now an “after-thought” cardigan!

Hillwalker is inspired by the need for a simple sweater to knit-while-walking the mountain where I live. In my opinion this design style is the easiest sweater to knit, and the most attractive one too! Hillwalker is a classic and essential wardrobe item, for women, men, teens & kids. A circular yoke seamless style perfect to showcase tweed or your handspun. Excellent clean canvas for your own colorwork ideas to give it your own inventive touch!

See Hillwalker yoke improvised in a simple Icelandic style HERE.

Construction is bottom up, in-the-round, with short rows working neckline into a relaxed crew style. Pattern is written for gauge 5 sts = 1 inch in worsted or dk weight, but includes substitution chart to adapt to many gauges, from sport-weight to bulky-weight, broadening size range from 26” thru 60” in many yarn weights.
Great for beginners’ first seamless sweater,
or for a weekend knit!

Now Added: Hillwalker Cardigan is an “after-thought” pattern based on Hillwalker Pullover, in a choice of knit in-the-round & steeked, or knitted flat with selvedge – just because I wanted the challenge of writing a double tasking cardigan pattern! I’ve tried my best to merge two options so that you can have a lovely cardigan variation of Hillwalker that you find enjoyable to knit.

Actual size of garment: 26 (28, 30, 32, 34, 36, 38) 40 ((42, 44, 46, 48, 50, 52)) 54”
Yoke Depth: 5.5(6.25, 6.75, 7.25, 7.5, 7.5, 8) 8.25 ((8.5, 8.75, 8.75, 9, 9, 9.25)) 9.5
Yardage: 560 (670, 800, 920, 1020, 1110, 1210) 1310 ((1400, 1480, 1550, 1610, 1680, 1740 )) 1800 y

Yardage is only approximate.

Gauge: 20 stitches and 26 rounds = 4 inches in stockinette, and knit in-the-round. Pattern includes a gauge substitution chart for ‘at-a-glance’ modifying yarn and/or size (some gauges won’t apply to all sizes)

Needles: US7-4.5mm circular, or size to get gauge, referred to in pattern as ‘larger needles’. You will also need needles two sizes smaller for ribbing, referred to in pattern as ‘smaller needles’.
