This is one of a series of knitting tutorials which can be used as Freeform Building Blocks. This pattern describes four different sized holes worked over 2 stitches and 2 rows, 4 stitches and 4 rows, 8 stitches and 8 rows and 12 stitches and 12 rows. Three different variations of stable hole construction in a knitted fabric are explored.

Originally designed as part of ’Get SM-art = Science + Math(s) = Art’ Freeform CAL / KAL / FFAL in the International Freeform Forum

The various holes can be combined in a randomly determined modular manner to produce a piece of work whose size is determined by the knitter.

The size of the finished piece is determined by user choice of stitch count, needle and yarn.
