This is a one of a kind hooded owl blanket pattern. Children of all ages will enjoy lounging and playing with this adorable comfy blanket. Customize it with their favorite colors and the hooded owl blanket will instantly be their favorite. Instructions include options to make this blanket as a sleepy owl or snow owl. Make it out of super bulky yarn or worsted weight yarn. It is very detailed and there are pictures to help with assembly (which most of us would agree is the hardest part!). With these detailed instructions, even those with little crochet experience can find success creating their own masterpiece!

-Sizes: Small (42″x36″), Medium (54″x48″) & Large (66″x60″). You can also make this for a baby if you use a thinner yarn and go down a hook size.
-Skills: Turning chain, single crochet, double crochet, half double crochet, single crochet decrease, slip stitch, reverse single crochet (optional) & basic sewing.
-Written in US Terms
-Skill Level: Easy
-PDF format available for instant download
-14 pages long

-Hooks: You will need a 6 mm (J) hook for the worsted weight blanket. For the super bulky blanket you will need a 9 mm (M) hook IF YOUR GAUGE MATCHES MINE! Depending on the size you will need: 5 mm (H), 5.5 mm (I), 6 mm (J)
-Yarn: You are welcome to use any brand of yarn as long as you check your gauge before beginning. For a tip on how to save time when checking your gauge, check out my blog post entitled “Becoming a Master Gauge Checker: It’s a stinky job, but somebody’s gotta do it…”

  • FOR SUPER BULKY BLANKET I used Bernat Softee Chunky. For main color you will need 900 yards for small, 1404 yards for medium & 2052 yards for large. For the accent color you will need 1 ball for all sizes. You will also need small amounts of Red Heart Super Saver (or any worsted weight yarn) in white, charcoal, cornmeal and whatever colors you choose for your scarf
  • FOR WORSTED WEIGHT BLANKET I used I Love This Yarn. For main color you will need 1065 yards for small, 1775 yards for medium & 2400 yards for large. For the accent color you will need less than 1 ball for all sizes. You will also need small amounts of Peacock, mango, black, and white.
