Hoodie Doo for Men
The Hoodie Doo is a garment based on a saddle-shoulder design with an extended saddle.
The body of the hoodie is knitted as a single piece (Front, Back, and two Saddles / Sleeve Caps) from the top down: worked back and forth to the level of the Front neckline, and then in the round.
After separating the Sleeves, the Body of the hoodie is knitted from the top down in the round.
Each Sleeve is then knitted separately in the round, from the underarm to the cuff.
The Pocket and the Hood are worked as separate pieces.
The Pocket is worked from the bottom up in back-and-forth rows.
The Hood is also worked from the top down in back-and-forth rows.
Once all the pieces of Hoodie Doo are completed, wash them separately and then sew them together using a yarn needle.
The main file and the attached materials (PDF files for each size and video files) describe the process of knitting all elements of the garment, as well as assembly, fitting instructions, and recommendations for chart adjustments.
The pattern complexity level is intermediate.
The skills required to knit this design include:
- reading knitting charts (all charts are accompanied by written instructions; the video shows an example of shaping the deep Back neckline),
- knitting stockinette stitch evenly, without gauge fluctuations, regardless of the direction or method of knitting (back-and-forth rows, knitting in the round, or magic loop),
- increasing and decreasing stitches with different leanings,
- working short rows,
- performing the Kitchener stitch, Mattress stitch, and Backstitch. All necessary practical skills are explained in detail in the size-specific files and demonstrated in the videos.
