This pattern is a simple but elegant knit.

The main body is knit flat, with a back and front. The pieces are then joined together at the shoulder using a 3-Needle Bind-off, then either circular needles or DPN’s are used to pickup and knit the neckline.

Finally, the sides are joined, again with a 3-Needle Bind-off.

The pattern is designed to use a single strand of Istex Einband (a laceweight yarn) which is used throughout. Within the 8 row pattern repeat, 4 rows are worked with Istex Plotulopi also held with the Einband.

If you wish to use other yarn, then any strong laceweight yarn, used with a ‘fluffier’ yarn, should be suitable. In that instance, you should check your tension against my guage.

As the tunic is designed to go over other clothing, it has a significant amount of positive ease - in addition, because of the way it is knitted, the width of your garment will have quite a bit of stretch available.

Don’t be tempted to knit too small a size because of this however, as it is the nature of the stitch that gives the garment such a lovely drape. If you stretch it too much, you will lose that drape.

Final (unstretched) chest sizes range from 76cm for the XS, through to 162cm for the 3XL.
