According to Plato music (rhythm and harmony) can “find their way into the inward places of the soul”.
And indeed, a song can have a powerful effect on us. Some can evoke sweet memories we haven’t even thought about for decades, others can make us silly happy or break our hearts.
And some can give us inspiration.
Like Hot Mama from Trace Adkins. It always puts a smile on my face and makes me giddy, but it also drove me to try and create something that makes me feel the same. Something blue and bold and simple that can be worn with blue jeans and big earrings and the confident smile of a woman who is not 21 anymore but because of that she’d learned and knows her own worth.
