The “XO” pattern is a traditional Fair Isle pattern. The variation in scale is my own spin on it.

This Christmas stocking has all the elements of a sock, so you can practice sock knitting with no second sock! It is knit in the round, with no seaming.

An alternate cuff, leg, foot and toe pattern is given, for beginners. These can be substuted easily.

This pattern used 50m of a 10 ply (worsted) brushed alpaca white yarn, 75m of 10 ply (worsted) merino/possum red yarn, and 60m of 10 ply (worsted) merino/possum green yarn. This is an exvellent stash buster, less than 50 grams was used for each yarn.
