This is a true moebius strip cowl. A moebius strip is a fascinating topological artifact, that has only one edge, and one surface. This has terrible implications for knitters: the wrong side of colourwork will always show, which isn’t attractive. It is possible to work a tube, then graft it, but that strikes me as a cheat. It’s much more fun to knit a real moebius strip.

Using a new variation of two cast-on methods, it is possible to make a double-knit moebius strip! Stocking stitch stripes, in a moebius, with no unattractive visible wrong sides.

The pattern starts with Cat Bordhi’s Moebius cast on, but then veers in a new direction. If you’re not familiar with this cast on, I heartily recommend Cat’s work on the topic. It’s available as an ebook, as well.
