This pattern has been created through Knit for Wildlife’s “Knitters in Residence”. Exploring marine conservation through the work of Love The Oceans in Mozambique. Inspired by the remarkable marine life of Jangamo Bay, a Mission Blue Hope Spot.

Materials: Yarn requirements, needles and gauge aren’t particularly needed for this pattern, as I’ve designed them to be made with whatever you have on hand. Sample images were knit with 8ply yarn and 4mm needles.

The swatch based approach to this pattern is intended to leave room for expansion, alteration, experimentation and play. The included charts represent a series of data relating to humpback whales, and I leave it to you to create whichever one speaks to you, in whatever way you like. You can make one (or all) of the included designs, share the pattern with anyone you like, and invite them to make too!

The project will grow with each swatch made, and form a global
interconnection of artists passionate about ocean conservation. I will collate images together to create a ‘digital quilt’, documenting this far reaching awareness. If you would like your work to be included in this, please fill out this submission form with a high quality image of your piece(s).
