I don't like cricket I love it
While the Northern hemisphere is snuggling up in their beautiful handmade and cozy blankets and super comfortable and squishy sweaters, Christmas in Australia has a very different vibe. Especially in sunny Queensland, we have seafood and light salads, air conditioning blasting to keep up alive in the humidity and hot summer sun, and cricket.
You read correctly - cricket. And cricket is a very social sport to watch, because the pace of the game is very decelerated. This is heaven for any crocheter or knitter! You get to chat with your loved ones, the snacks keep coming and the air conditioning is actually cold enough to work on a full size afghan in summer.
This cricket ball and bat set is made in amigurumi style and worked in the round for most of the process. I have used DK cotton, but any yarn will work, just select a hook size smaller to keep your stitches tight (so the stuffing doesn’t show). I have wrapped my bat handles with the Australian Team’s colours green and gold, but if you support a different team, I’d love to see how you decorate yours!
If you also enjoy cricket and crochet, I’d love to see what you’re making!
