Ihana is a Finnish word meaning lovely. And lovely is exactly what this pattern is. This convertible cowl is worked flat and then fastened with buttons to be worn one of two ways: as a traditional cowl or as a triangle scarf. Full of texture and with delicate shells, this cowl will quickly become a favorite to make and wear.

Materials Needed -
Approx. 400 yards of Worsted/4 Weight Yarn
J/6mm Crochet Hook
3 buttons – 1 to 1 ½ inch in diameter
Measuring tape
Scissors
Stitch Markers
Tapestry needle for sewing

Recommended Yarn and Hook Size -
I recommend using Lion Brand Mandala Ombre for this project and a 6mm hook. This is a Worsted/4 yarn that is very plush and soft. It comes as a self-striping cake and this project will use just over 1 cake. The pictures featured in this pattern are made in the color Felicity. If you do not have access to purchase this yarn, any similar weight yarn will work.

This pattern was also tested using Lion Brand Cupcake and Lion Brand Mandala yarns with a H/5mm hook. To achieve the same size, the starting chain was increased to for the width and additional repeats were done to match the height.

Sizing and Gauge -
You do not need to meet an exact gauge to make this project. To adjust your size, you can use a different size crochet hook or adjust your starting chain and add or decrease the number of pattern repeats to adjust the length.
