Imbroglio Aran Collar
A single repetition of symmetrical cable panels worked from the bottom up yields a comfy, warm collar perfect for layering with bulky or high-collar coats.
Because it’s worked lengthways on dense yarn, the collar is made up of only 24 rows; I won’t claim that it knits quickly, as the pattern is comprised of a whole suite of cables, but it should make for a good weekend project.
MATERIALS
- 1 skein aran weight wool ― pattern worked in Twilleys Freedom Alfresco 101 Field Mushroom;
- 1 pair 5.0 mm (US size 8) knitting needles;
- 4.0 mm cable needle;
- 2 oblong wood buttons;
- stitch markers;
- 4.0 mm crochet hook;
- tapestry needle for weaving.
TECHNIQUES
- knit cast-on;
- cable knitting;
- picking up dropped stitches with crochet hook;
- knit and purl bind-off.
