This is my go-to movie knitting and prayer shawl design.

Designed to be simple enough to work mostly by touch, this completely reversible rectangular wrap lends itself to moments when you want to focus on something else – in the dark theater for a good film, a social knit, a challenging meeting, or a meditative or grounding moment. It moves along quickly with a kinesthetic rhythm that keeps things from becoming too monotonous. Slipped stitch piping gives a touch of structure and a satisfying finish to this cozy wrap.

Pattern is written for worsted weight yarn, but you can easily swap out your favorite yarn weight; variation suggestions are offered at the end of the pattern.

If you are knitting a prayer shawl, with a little extra attention, you can add a double-sided cross or heart a few rows after ending the first border by using distinctive stitch markers; use Prayer Square 2.0 or Wholehearted Prayer Square directions between markers.
