A NEW pattern format (V4) of this design is added. It has row-by-row instructions, no charts. The old pattern format, compact and with charts, is also available.

In the Rockies is an asymmetrical triangular shawl that is worked on the bias, starting at the tip of the shawl with a few cast-on stitches, and finishing with a picot bind-off at the opposite side. The shaping is done with simultaneous increases at the right side and partial bind-offs at the left side of the knitted fabric, gradually increasing the total number of stitches as you progress.

The stripes of garter and stockinette stitch patterns in variegated colour alternate with the sections of a mesh stitch pattern in tonal yarn. Special attention was given to the shawl’s edge stitches that run along the side of the increases. They are worked in a cable stitch pattern using tonal colour with one stitch column of contrast colour that runs between the cable border and the shawl’s body stitches.
