We’ve all been there. We make a sacred oath to NOT add another single skein of hand-dyed, variegated sock yarn to our stashes, but the siren song of THAT skein at the yarn shop/fiber festival/trunk show seeps past all reason and the next thing we know, the adrenaline is pumping, our pulse is quickening, and we’re handing over our debit card for a hank of colorful magic. We’ll give up groceries for the week or tap into our children’s college fund to buy that yarn.

Sometimes, the wool fumes are too much.

Do you have indie-dyed skeins in your stash that are precious but not color-ways that you usually wear? Do you love the look of indie-dyed yarn in the skein but hate pooling and unpredictable color repeats in the knitting?

Fellow fiber friends, I’ve come up with one solution, and here it is….it’s my recipe for making a beautiful, squishy accessory that will enable you to treasure and use those precious, memory-laden skeins in your stash….the Indie Trance Shawl, an asymmetrical triangle that is easy to style and wear!!!

Combine a colorful single skein of indie-dyed yarn with a skein or two of a coordinating neutral and knit this beautiful and wearable shawl. The recipe features sections that are customizable and the alternating stripes and increasing length bust color pooling. Sections of garter stitch, eyelets, bobbles, and lace keep things interesting and moving right along.

PLEASE READ THROUGH ENTIRE PATTERN BEFORE PRINTING AND/OR BEGINNING. You do not need to print out the entire pattern. Page 1 has all the pictures (save printer ink by only printing out the text), and written lace instructions are included (you will not need these pages if you are using the chart).

This recipe features both charted and written instructions with a video tutorial for the lace, and a checklist of sections to keep you on track from cast on to bind off.
