This very basic sock pattern knit with worsted weight yarn and double-pointed needles has earned the reputation of being a great introduction to sock knitting. The directions are step-by-step. Comes in sizes for the whole family. In this pattern, the leg is ribbed and the foot is knit plain.

This sock pattern has been praised over the years (published 1996) as “the pattern to choose if you want to learn to knit socks.” It is detailed and well diagrammed.

In addition a knitter will learn some Iowa facts--Buddy Holly fame, the Little Brown Church, Field of Dreams Meredith Willson and more.
