Island Gloves
Island Gloves are clean, understated gloves with a subtle design detail that adds quiet interest. The main body of the gloves is worked in stockinette stitch, while the thumb is worked entirely in purl stitches, creating a gentle textural contrast within an otherwise minimal silhouette.
The gloves are worked from the cuff upward, beginning with a 2x2 rib for a comfortable, secure fit. After the cuff, stitches are increased to shape the thumb gusset. The little finger is then separated first, followed by the index finger, middle finger, ring finger. Then the stitches for the little finger are picked up and worked, and finally the thumb is worked.
Both right and left gloves are knitted the same way.
Island Gloves are designed for fingering-weight yarn and standard sock gauge and are worked with 2.5 mm US 1½ needles. The pattern includes five sizes, from XS to XL, allowing for a well-balanced fit across a wide range of hand sizes.
Island Gloves are a thoughtful, modern accessory — simple in appearance, yet refined in construction.
