Sand Socks are defined by a quiet sense of movement.
The texture is built from small purl stitches that appear and disappear across the fabric, like grains of sand shifting underfoot. Subtle and restrained, the pattern creates a gentle rhythm that keeps the knitting engaging without ever becoming busy.
Worked cuff down, the socks combine a calm surface with thoughtful construction. The dotted texture flows naturally into a clean, wedge-shaped heel, where smooth stockinette highlights the structure and fit. The result is a pair of socks that feels simple at first glance, yet reveals depth and motion as you knit.

The socks begin with a 1×1 rib worked with twisted knit stitches. After the ribbing, the main textured pattern is worked along the leg.

The heel is shaped in three clear stages. First, stitches are increased in the round to form a wedge-shaped gusset. Next, short rows are worked to turn the heel. Finally, the gusset stitches are decreased in the round, transitioning smoothly into the foot.
The foot and toe are both worked in the round. The toe is shaped with decreases and finished neatly using the Kitchener Stitch.
