This design was inspired by the delightfully goofy Dufflepuds in C.S. Lewis’ book, The Voyage of the Dawn Treader. Quite literally, the sock pictures an island with trees in the sea. Less obvious, unless you like to take off your shoes and put your feet prominently on the coffee table where everyone can admire them, you can see the “hidden” footprints of the Dufflepuds in the sand.

Because of the size of the chart, directions are for just one size. Suggestions are included in the pattern for possible ways to adjust the size to be smaller or larger.

You will want to have a few stitch markers handy.

Sample sock (US Women’s size 8) took less than one 50 gm skein of sock yarn for each of three colors.
