The Ivory Lace Top is a made to measure crochet pattern – you can follow the provided double size M/L or use your own measurements to customize the fit exactly how you like. Each step includes notes and tips to help you adjust the sizing as needed.
This pattern is provided in English and uses American crochet shorthand/abbreviations. This document spans 25 pages and includes instructive images to further help you pursuit your goal result.
Recommended Skill Level: Advanced beginner and above.
Pattern uses following crochet stitches: single crochet (sc), half double crochet (hdc), double crochet (dc), treble crocheht (tr), slip stitch (sl st).
CONSTRUCTION OF THE TOP
The Ivory Lace Top is worked from the top-down in a classic raglan construction. You’ll begin at the neckline, then work four increase points to shape the sleeves and body simultaneously. Increases are continued evenly until the desired bust measurement is reached.
Once the yoke is complete, the sleeves are separated from the body. The body is worked first, followed by each sleeve, which is completed individually.
MATERIALS:
- CROCHET HOOK 4 mm / UK 7 / US G-6
- YARN Light weight (no. 3) compatible with 4 mm crochet hook
- SCISSORS
- TAPE MEASURE
- STITCH MARKERS
- TAPESTRY NEEDLE (optional for weaving in ends)
YARN RECOMMENDATIONS
- You can use any yarn of your choice, such as cotton, wool or acrylic (you can use blends: e.g. 60% cotton, 40% acrylic etc.),
- I don’t recommend using yarns that are too colorful for this project, as the lace-like effect might get lost in the colors.
- To ensure it works well with the 4 mm crochet hook used in this design, I recommend using a yarn no heavier than Light weight (no. 3) when working with a single strand.
e.g. For a sage green sample top in size M/L I’ve used 4mm crochet hook and single strand of yarn: Light weight (no. 3). I’ve used DROPS‘ Muskat 100% Cotton (50g / 100 m) in shades 19 Light Grey, 20 Light Green and 80 sage green. In total approx. 960 m of yarn together (320 m of each color).
