A fresh page, a new start.
A different turn, a change of heart.

As good as a rest, potential to grow.
To cast off old cares for adventures unknown.

A new house to make a home, a new book to read.
With the promise of new, our future feels freed.

The Ivy Cottage Socks begin at the cuff with a 2x2 rib, the cosiest of starts, and flows straight in to a patterned rib. Inspired by the E.J Taylor book of the same name, this simple design would be perfect to knit on the bumpy train ride to your new ivy covered home. With a short pattern repeat these socks are easy to commit to memory while still having enough interest to make the knitting engaging. Since Ivy Cottage was so completely covered in ivy at first that Miss Biscuit and Violet Pickles couldn’t even find it, I decided to take the textured pattern all the way down the heel flap too. The socks end with a rounded toe. This project is the perfect opportunity to use one of your lovely sock sets, I think the contrasting cast on and toe add a touch of whimsy. A tonal or lightly speckled yarn will really show off the stitches.
