Jack & The Beanstalk was one of my favourite fairy tales as a child. Jack is a boy who upsets his mother by selling their last cow, instead of money, for magic beans. His mother throws the beans out of the window into the back garden, as she is cross, because they needed the money to buy food. The next day Jack discovers that the beans have sprouted into a giant beanstalk. Jack climbs the beanstalk and discovers a castle with treasures owned by a giant. Jack steals from the giant and in the end cuts down the beanstalk to protect himself and his mother. They live happily ever after. This sock design represents the beanstalk that Jack climbed and scuttled back down with golden eggs and treasure he stole from the giant. It is a lovely climbing lace pattern, which is beautiful and elegant.
