JADWIGA
{yah-DVEE-gah}
a female Polish given name

…….

The beckoning of Spring is a special kind of ritual, as dark as it is light. Because with Spring comes a recognition of nature’s balance. We see that flowers emerge out of dirt, and that growth ruptures surfaces. With its wavelike organic forms and its elements of ritual and repetition, Jadwiga was inspired by these ideas.

Combining Northern European colourwork techniques with Eastern European embroidery motifs, Jadwiga is a merging of folk traditions. The result is a garment with a unique and surprisingly contemporary look. Knit it in either two colours or six, as a pullover or as a dress. The relaxed gauge makes Jadwiga a fairly quick garment to knit, suitable for adventurous beginners and experienced colourwork enthusiasts.
