This men’s waistcoat is styled formally, and works well with a shirt. It is knitted in a slip stich pattern that gives a tweed effect, and results in a luxurious drape and weight to the finished piece.

Sizes: XS, S, M, L, XL.
Actual measurement: 102cm (40”); 107cm (42”); 112cm (44”); 117cm (46”); 122cm (48”).

NEEDLES
1 pair 5mm (no 6) (US 8) needles
1 pair 6 ½mm (no 3) (US 10.5) needles
1 5mm (no 6) (US 8) double-pointed needle

BUTTONS
I used 6 x 58182033 John Lewis Heritage 13mm Shell Buttons, Pack of 6, Blue

RIBBON
15mm Grosgrain ribbon in Brown or co-ordinating colour, 5810155 from John Lewis or similar.

The waistcoat is knitted in three pieces and sewn together. Yarn A: Rowan Lima in Argentina (4-5 balls) and Yarn B: Amazon (4-5 balls).

SLIP STICH PATTERN
Row 1: (RS) with yarn A, K1, (ssp1, K1) repeat until end of row.
Row 2: (WS) with yarn A, (ssk1®, P1), repeat until final stitch, ssk1.
Row 3: bring yarn B under yarn A and pattern (RS) as row 1, with yarn B
Row 4: (WS) as row 2, with yarn B
When changing colour on subsequent rows, bring the new yarn under the old one.
ssp1: yarn forward, slip 1 st purlwise, yarn back
®ssk1: slip one stitch knitwise
