Jingle Jangle mosaic blanket
Create your own beautiful Jingle Jangle blanket featuring an easy to memorise three row pattern repeat. When I first started creating the graph for this pattern, I was listening to Bob Dylan’s studio albums in order. When I got round to start thinking of a name for my pattern, I’d got up to Bringing it All Back Home. Mr Tambourine Man was playing and I really liked the sound of a Jingle Jangle morning. To me, it sounds like lazing about in bed with a hot cup of tea first thing in the morning - one of my favourite things to do!
This cozy blanket is worked using the mosaic overlay technique. Only one colo(u)r of yarn is used for each row, there are no complicated mid-row colour changes. Each row is written out in full, and a clear chart (with “X” notation) is also included for those who prefer to work from charts.
Knowledge of basic stitches is assumed. The two special stitches used for overlay mosaic crochet are clearly explained, with step-by-step instructions and helpful tutorial photos.
The pattern is rated Intermediate, but confident beginners with some experience are very welcome—I’m always available via messages if you need help or get stuck. Many customers say they’ve never tried mosaic overlay before but my pattern made it easy for them.
The blanket shown is made using Stylecraft Special DK in a wide range of colours, but any Double Knitting (DK) weight yarn will work.
The cushion shown was made using one colo(u)r pack of Scheepjes Stonewashed in Manifest with an additional 50g of Onxy and 50g of Moonstone added.
Suggested hook: 4 mm (G/6) when using Stylecraft Special DK, 3.5mm (E/4) for Scheepjes Stonewashed.
My blanket fits onto a double bed but the size is very easily adjusted by altering the starting chain; the pattern repeats every 16 stitches so virtually any size blanket is possible. A range of suggested blanket sizes giving the starting chain required and approximate yarn quantities are calculated for you.
After purchase, you will receive two printable PDF files (English language):
One version using UK crochet terms
One version using US crochet terms
Each document includes 21 pages of detailed instructions, plus 42 full-colour tutorial photographs.
