Kaldoaivi Sweater
KALDOAIVI SWEATER is my first published design. This sweater has been inspired by the Kaldoaivi wilderness area in Finnish Lapland with its curvey fells and wind-sculptured snow dunes.
I spend a lot of time outdoors in Finnish Lapland and I wanted to make a sweater that can be used both indoors and outdoors. Kaldoaivi sweater is made by using yarn dominance (jacquard) technique and it can be worn also inside out.
This timeless sweater pattern is unisex and it comes in four different adult sizes. Because the sweater is knitted top-down, you can easily customize the body and sleeve lengths by stopping before or continuing after the recommended length measurements. Feel free to modify it to fit your own body and have fun when making and using it!
The collar and the rest of the sweater is knitted in stockinette stitch using yarn dominance (jacquard) technique. A seamless round yoke follows with increase intervals throughout the work. Sleeve separation creates the distinction between armholes and body. The yoke flows into the body with the same pattern. The tapered sleeves are knitted top-down and in the round as well.
