Kat no. 8
Kat no. 8 is the sweater I designed for our 8th Knitathon. It combines cozy, comfy fall feelings with a bit of elegance because of the fitted, cabled sleeves. It is a basic top-down raglan, but the sleeves makes this sweater special with their cables, bobbles and wrapped stitches, set on a background of twisted rib.
This is the sweater that will replace your favorite sweatshirt; cozy, warm and easy to wear. At the same time, it will make you feel just a little bit polished – without compromising the cozy feeling!
This is probably not a good choice for your first sweater. You must be able to ”read” your knitting, because you are incorporating stitches into an established pattern. Also, there are quite a few techniques at play (which are of course all explained in the pattern).

Suggested yarn
Lima from Hjertegarn: https://netgarn.dk/shop/19-hjertegarn/73-hjertegarn---lima-/ (I have used color 710).
Yardage is estimated and may vary between knitters.
Suggested needles
3 mm circulars, 80 cm for ribbing (use magic loop where needed)
4 mm circulars, 80 cm for body (use magic loop where needed)
Please note: Needle size is ONLY a suggestion – always use the needle required to get gauge!
Gauge
20 stitches x 26 rounds on larger needles = 10 x 10 cm / 4 x 4 inches after blocking. Always use the needle size that will give the correct gauge!
Pay extra attention to your gauge when working the sleeves. Many knitters will tend to have a tighter gauge when working in a smaller circumference. If this is true for you, please adjust your needle size accordingly, by going up one or two sizes. Because the sleeves are worked in ribbing it is difficult to get a correct gauge measurement, so you have to pay attention to your stitches – do they feel tighter than on the body? Then you have to go up a needle size or two.
Also, when working flat (during the short row sections), pay attention to your gauge. Our purls are often looser than our knit stitches. You may want to use a smaller needle tip for the purl rows.
