About:
Kauri Loop Cowl is a DK weight / 8ply cowl knitting pattern, worked in the round and designed to create a deeply textured, squishy fabric with beautiful definition.
The texture is created using simple increase and decrease stitches, making it an engaging but approachable knit. The pattern is written for one size and includes both written and charted instructions, so you can work from whichever format you prefer.
This design is inspired by the tall, majestic kauri trees of Aotearoa New Zealand. These native giants line many of our bush walks and ngahere (forest) trails, standing with quiet strength and presence. Some kauri have watched over the land for generations, their towering trunks and spreading canopies becoming part of the stories, legends, and landscape of this beautiful country. The lines in this pattern represent the strong tall trunks of the Kauri, and the details, the flora.

Meterage:
Approximately 100 grams / 200 m / 219 yards
My sample is knitted with Skeinz Chatswood yarn. This is recycled mixed fibre yarn.

Gauge: 15 sts and 28 rounds = 10 cm / 4 in. Worked in the charted / written pattern, in the round, after gentle blocking.

A Note on choosing yarn:
I recommend choosing yarns which have a bouncy texture, with less variegation of colour. For example, a single colour tone, or a good quality, single colour hand dyed yarn. This way your pattern will stand out, and you will see the stitch design clearly. I recommend swatching your yarn with the pattern.

Recommended needles: (adjust needles to meet gauge)
4.5 mm / US 7 circular needles, DPNs, or preferred method for working in the round.
