Cancer sucks. We’ve all been touched in some way by cancer and those who fight the good fight are superheroes. Recently, a fiber fanatic group to which I belong have been knitting and crocheting chemo caps to donate to a women’s gynecological support center in the United States. One of our members recently lost a very dear friend to gynecological cancer so we decided to make chemo caps in honor of her friend. Humble Acres Yarn artist, Angela, even donated many of us yarn in which to make some of the hats. I designed this simple Tam/beret style hat with my donated yarn. I figured some ladies might not enjoy a tight beanie style hat so I wanted to create something that would cover chemo-affected heads but be pretty and feminine at the same time. I hope you are encouraged to knit up a hat to donate to one of your local cancer centers because, let’s face it, cancer sucks!

This tam/beret does use a bit more than 1 hank of Aran weight yarn. Please keep that in mind when you are buying yarn for this project.
