Kikyou is an elegant lacy shawl.

Designed in collaboration with Voie de Vie Yarns, Kikyou is part of the Studio TwentyTwo Hanakotoba Collection and features Voie de Vie Yarns’ Rustic Single Peach Lantern from the Paint ‘n Rinse Series.

Worked in a traditional triangular shape with increases down the central spine and at the outside edges, Kikyou makes use of front and back loop stitches to create a textured fabric interspersed with bands of lace resembling the silhouette of pretty Bellflowers hanging down from their stems. Several repeats of Kikyou Lace around the bottom of the shawl give it a lovely finish.

The sample is 27 inches deep by 50 inches across the top edge (68.5 cm by 127 cm).

The shawl is worked in rows from side to side and can be modified by working more or fewer repeats of the textured panels and Bellflower insertions and by varying the length of the Kikyou Lace at the lower edge of the shawl.

The pattern does not include charts.
