Kiri Scarf
About the pattern:
The Kiri Scarf is the perfect chic complement to your look and is very easy to make. The seed stitch has an amazing texture, creating a beautiful, warm fabric and a very refined look.
This pattern is knitted flat and features a textured fabric provided by the seed stitch. In this project, you will use increases and decreases to shape the scarf and special techniques such as i-cord edge.
Choose a strong colour and knit the small size, for a chic accessory or statement piece, or make the larger one, ideal to fold twice around your neck on chillier spring mornings.
Adjusting the size of the Kiri Scarf is easy, instructions for adaptation are provided in the pattern. Be aware that, for a larger scarf, you will need an additional amount of yarn.
Yarn:
The yarn I’ve used is Hoooked Woool’e, a very special yarn made entirely from recycled pre-consumer textile waste from the Portuguese fashion industry. It comprises 60% recycled wool and 40% recycled cotton.
You can, of course, use any yarn that suits your preference.
Materials:
Woool’e in Colour Red (Lavender), 60% recycled cotton and 40% wool, 50 gr, 149 m, 1(2) ball(s)
3,5 mm / US 4 knitting circular needles (or other suitable needle size to obtain gauge or the right texture for you)
1 removable stitch marker
Tapestry needle
Scissors
Measuring tape
Measurements:
Measured laying flat (after blocking):
Small size:
Width (wingspan): 99 cm
Depth: 15 cm
Large size:
Width (wingspan): 109 cm
Depth: 17 cm
Gauge:
20 stitches and 32 rows for a tension swatch of 10 x 10 cm using 3,5 mm knitting needles, in Seed Stitch.
It is not so important to get the correct gauge, make sure you adjust the needles to achieve a fabric that you like and if needed, slightly adjust the pattern to obtain the desired measurements.
