As a designer I am often looking for inspiration in my everyday life, with this pattern I looked to my youngest daughter, Kirsten. She is a dancer and at her dance company, the studio is often cold. So, I wanted to knit her a pair of leg warmers. I spend at least 5 hours every week sitting in the hallway while she dances, in that time I have taken the leap into the world of Brioche knitting, and I have been hooked ever since.

With this pattern, I combined both ideas into one pattern, a pair of brioche leg warmers. I kept the pattern simple for those of you who are also beginning brioche knitters. There is no shaping, just row after row of brioche. Practice will help you get a feel for the rhythm of brioche and how to count the double rows.

Brioche knitting creates a very spongy warm fabric, so I actually went down a couple needle sizes to prevent snags. Please be sure to read the notes at the end of the pattern for hints and tips on how to do the brioche stitches, and how to count the double rows.

Enjoy and happy knitting!
