This hat will certainly earn you multiple longing glances and compliments from history geeks and not-interested-in-medieval-times peeps alike. With it’s long comb, snug visor, and evenly finished edges, it is definitely a hat worthy of showing off.

The pattern contains instructions for four sizes, S-XL, fitting head sizes 19”-25.5”. (The modeled hat is size L on a 23” head.) It is written in English.

There are only 4 stitches used throughout the entire pattern, and lots of pictures. Even a beginner crocheter will be able to turn out this cool helmet of a hat. (US terms)
Stitches used:
chain
slip stitch
single crochet
half double crochet

The use of half double crochets keeps the stitching tight but not stiff, while still working up quickly.

The visor easily stays put up or down (or over your eyes if you feel like they need more protection?) Specific instructions included to make the visor friendly for those people who wear glasses and don’t want them to fog up from breathing!

Materials needed include the following:
3 oz/180 yards Color A worsted weight yarn (grey)
~12 yards Color B worsted weight yarn (black)
Size I 5.5mm crochet hook
Size H 5.0mm crochet hook
Yarn needle
x3 stitch markers
Tapestry needle (small enough to go through the button)
Thread (or strands of color A yarn will work, this is for sewing on the buttons)
x2 7/8”-1 1/4” buttons (flat buttons will hold visor more securely, but are not necessary.)
