Presenting a crochet pattern for the Knit-Like Scarf by Knittybae. This downloadable PDF pattern features an alternation of basic crochet stitches that create a knit-like ribbed texture – even though the scarf is entirely crocheted. The Knit-Like Scarf is a made to measure crochet design – you can follow the provided size or use your own measurements to customize the fit exactly how you like. Each step includes notes and tips to help you adjust the sizing as needed.

This pattern is provided in English and uses American crochet shorthand/abbreviations. This document spans 14 pages and includes instructive images to further help you pursuit your goal result.

Recommended Skill Level: Advanced Beginner and above.

Pattern uses following crochet stitches: half double crochet (hdc), yo sl st (yarn over slip stitch), slip stitch (sl st).

CONSTRUCTION OF THE SCARF

The Knit-Like Scarf is worked flat, from side to side and constructed as one main panel. You can choose to follow the sample size provided, or easily customize the scarf to suit your own preferences.

If you decide to customize, begin by crocheting a starting chain long enough to reach your desired final length of the scarf. You’ll then work as many rows as needed to achieve your preferred width. Once the desired width is reached, the main body of the scarf is complete and finished with simple edging for clean, polished edges.

As a final step, you can choose whether to add fringe for extra texture, or leave the scarf with flat edges for a more minimal look.

MATERIALS:

CROCHET HOOK: any
YARN: any compatible with chosen crochet hook
SCISSORS
TAPE MEASURE
STITCH MARKERS
TAPESTRY NEEDLE (optional for weaving in ends)

YARN RECOMMENDATIONS:

You can use any yarn of your choice, such as cotton, wool, or acrylic, depending on your desired fit and purpose (e.g. linen for a lightweight summer scarf, wool for a chunky winter scarf),
You can use any yarn weight, as long as it’s paired with a compatible crochet hook,
To ensure the yarn works well with this pattern, I highly recommend using a slightly larger crochet hook than what’s suggested on the yarn label. Slip stitches can tighten easily, and using a bigger hook helps keep the fabric relaxed and flexible.

( e.g. To make the green chunky sample scarf I’ve used approx. 600 m of yarn with 9 mm crochet hook with single strand of Bulky weight yarn (no. 5) – Melissa Lana Ribbon in shade 11.)
