This pattern is for a knitted fanchon with a lace pattern that was originally published in April of 1871. It is knitted as a base and a combination of edging and strings which are then seamed together.

There are some errors in the text of the pattern, and only the first half of the base is given. The knitter is meant to work out how to reverse the increases for the second half of the base.
