Knitted Leaves (A Loin Cloth, Technically)
Knitted Leaves (a loin cloth, technically) – for modest coverage
Add a bit of botanical absurdity to your knitting! These playful knitted leaves can be worn as a humorous costume element or used individually as decorative accents.
Originally designed as a tongue-in-cheek Halloween “loin cloth,” the pattern has grown beyond the joke: perfect for anyone who wants to knit something whimsical, wearable, or just plain fun.
The pattern is fully adaptable: knit one pair or a dozen, use the leaves alone, or attach them to a simple i-cord strap for a wearable version. Each leaf is worked flat and shaped with increases and decreases to create a natural, flowing form.
Sample finished size: 9 in / 23 cm long by 5 in / 13 cm wide (using worsted-weight yarn and US 7–8 needles). Your leaves may vary depending on yarn and needle choice.
Skills: Basic knit and purl, M1L/M1R increases, ssk, k2tog, k3tog, and optional i-cord.
Bring a little humor, whimsy, and garden-inspired fun to your next knitting project!
