Knitted Pencil Cases by Teresa Mc Bride

Knitted Pencil Cases

This pattern is available as a free Ravelry download

This knitting pattern is for 3 styles of pencil case:

  1. Folded rectangle (horizontal) with zip closure. Knit in DK yarn on 4mm needles.
  2. Folded rectangle (horizontal) with diamond flap, button closure. Knit in DK yarn on 4mm needles.
  3. Folded rectangle (vertical) with ribbon tie closure. Knit in super-chunky yarn on 10mm needles.

I created these as a rough idea for very basic pencil cases being donated to orphanages, and are intended just as a guide for knitters so may need to be tweaked…let me know! In particular, I didn’t include instructions for colour changes but I believe these are good stash-busters. Also, If you find the neck of the draw-string one too tight, don’t sew up the seam on the final 4 rib rows.

It has been commented that the drawstring pencil case looks like a mini hot water bottle cover - you may actually be able to use this as a cover for those hot/cold drink bottles.
