This pattern combines KNITTING and SEWING to create a small pouch (approximately 5x8”/13x20 cm) with stockinette knitting on the exterior, fabric lining the interior, and a convenient zipper closure. It can be knit in one colour, stripes, or any of the colourwork designs I’ve included (charts & written instructions), or one of your own if you’re feeling creative!
This pouch is knit in the round from the top down, includes a double-thick top edge achieved using a Provisional Cast On, includes full-colour charts and written instructions for stripes and colourwork options, and full-colour photos and written instructions for sewing the fabric lining and zipper into the pouch.
No previous sewing experience is required. A sewing machine will make the fabric liner and zipper installation much quicker, but you are more than welcome to sew everything by hand if you don’t have access to a sewing machine or prefer hand sewing. Colour photos of each step and links to video tutorials are included!

SUGGESTED YARN
Approximately 80-110 yards/73-100 meters DK weight yarn (samples shown in Hobbii Rainbow Sock Wool 8-ply)

SUGGESTED NEEDLES
US 6/4.0 mm and US 7/4.5 mm (or sizes required to obtain gauge) 16”/40 cm circular needle or double-pointed needles, or long circular needles for the “magic loop” method

ADDITIONAL SUPPLIES/MATERIALS REQUIRED
• Waste yarn, if using Crochet-Style Provisional Cast On (see Notes below): Approximately 4 yards/3.7 meters DK weight yarn
• Crochet hook, if using Crochet-Style Provisional Cast On: Choose a hook close to your needle size, though the size of the crochet hook isn’t that important, as the tension of your cast on will be determined by your needle, not the hook.
• Lining fabric: I recommend a light/mid-weight cotton or quilting cotton, a fat quarter or 1/4-yard cut will be more than enough.
• Zipper: 8”/20 cm, non-separating
• Notions: Tapestry needle, stitch markers (one to mark beginning of round, one to mark center of round), ruler/measuring tape, scissors, sewing needle and thread, sewing clips or pins
• Clothes iron (recommended)
• Sewing machine (optional, hand-sewing instructions are included)
• Cardboard for blocking (recommended): 8”/20 cm by 6”/15 cm, wrapped in plastic wrap or aluminum foil
