Knitter Natter is the fingering weight counterpart to Sitting with Friends Shawl. Grab your favourite fingering weight yarn and get ready to cast on! The body of the shawl is worked in relaxing garter stitch with simple increaeses so that you can knit and natter with your crafty friends. Then work the border rows in an easy but eye-catching dropped stitch pattern, and voila! The end result is generously sized and has beautiful drape. The instructions are written.

Gauge: The sample was worked at a gauge of 17 st to 10 cm (4 inches) before blocking using 4.5mm (US 7) needles. While gauge is not critical for this project you should aim for a similar gauge if you wish the finished shawl to be similar to the sample. The project is worked back and forth in rows, but a circular needle is required to hold all the stitches. A 60 cm (24 inch) and 100 cm (40 inch) are recommended.

Finished dimensions (after blocking): 46.5 cm (18 inches) deep and approx. 155 cm (61 inches) wingspan.

Yarn: Fingering weight yarn: approx 660 m (720 yards) in one or two colours. Quantities are estimates and a 10% safety buffer has been added. If using two colours like the sample, allow 440m in your main colour (MC) and 220m in a contrast colour (CC) for the border. The body of the shawl can also be worked using laceweight yarn held double as MC. For laceweight held double, you will need twice the metreage. The sample used just under 800m of Cascade Alpaca Lace held double as MC. The divinely soft Fluff & Nonsense merino silk yak singles was used for the border.
