Knitty Titty

This is a quick knit, comfy, soft, light breast prosthesis that is knitted from the center to the front and then center to back, with no “pick up and knits” or seaming needed. I’m not a fast knitter but I can make one of these, including the stuffing, in under two hours.

I wrote this pattern because other patterns require starting with just a few stitches of lighter weight yarn on each of three double-pointed needles and I have trouble with that. Also, they all required more stitches with thinner yarn and a lot of increases which slowed down the knitting.

By beginning in the middle, this pattern avoids the fiddly difficulty of beginning with just a few stitches on each needle. Also, k2tog’s replace the increases used in other patterns, which simplifies and speeds up the knitting process.

Instructions are given for double-pointed needles, but I also provide a note on how to adapt the pattern to two circulars.

Pattern is written for approximate bra sizes A (B, C, D) but sizes can be easily adjusted by beginning with more or less stitches on each needle and continuing with the same knitting process.

I suggest using a light, worsted weight yarn in a soft cotton blend but, again, this pattern can be easily adapted to the yarn of your choice.
