The Knot Bag is designed for an 18” doll like an American Girl, Journey Girl or Madame Alexander.

The body of this bag is worked from the bottom up using double pointed needles. Once the body is complete, the stitches are split and worked using an i-cord technique for the strap/loop. After knitting, the bag can be felted for added texture & stability.

There are variations available for a tassel/flower at the bottom, stripes and a wristlet.

Although I define a gauge for a DK weight yarn, gauge is not critical. In fact you can produce different bag results by choosing different weight yarns. For the samples photographed in this pattern, Malabrigo Rastita is used for the blue bag with the tassel, Lion Brand Bonbons (Metallic) is used for the wristlet and Hobby Lobby’s Crafter’s Secret Cotton Multi is used for the striped bag. Needle size should be based on the yarn you choose to use.

Techniques used include crochet circular cast on, knitting in the round and i-cord. These techniques require intermediate skills, but should be appropriate for an adventurous beginner :)

There will be a whole series of bags available eventually, so keep an eye out for new additions.
