Korivka (“little cow”) caramels from Ukraine are a delicious and beloved treat. This sock design is inspired by the candies’ brightly colored wrappers, so you can take some sweet little cows with you wherever you go.
The socks are knitted top-down from cuff to toe, beginning with a 1x1 twisted rib cuff, stockinette in the round, and stranded colorwork. (About half of the colorwork rounds require you to knit with 3 colors at a time, while the rest require you to knit with 2 colors at a time.) The short row heel is worked using a wrap-and-turn method. The foot features additional colorwork just before the toe, which is shaped by decreases and then grafted together.
Materials
Needles:
- 2.5 mm (US 1.5) circular needles (for all sizes)
- 2 mm (US 0) circular needles (for size Medium only)
Note: This pattern was designed to be knitted in the round on 80 cm circular needles using the magic loop technique and instructions are written accordingly, but feel free to adjust for a different length cord or DPNs if that is your preference.
Yarn:
This pattern was designed and knitted with Filcolana Arwetta in the colors Daffodil (Yellow), Deep Mahogany (Brown), and Disco Green (Green), and Lana Grossa Meilenweit in Weiß (White), and requires the following approximate quantities, as well as a small amount of scrap fingering weight yarn in Orange.
