I have written a step-by-step guide to the Short Row Section of the Kume Sweater (top-down version) in my blog, since some of you asked for a more detailed description of this section. I chose not to include it in the pattern because it felt too long and perhaps a bit too detailed for some knitters. But in case you find it useful (I know I would!), here it goes!

VERY IMPORTANT: this pattern is designed to be worked with NUTIDEN or unspun yarn. If substituting for aran weight yarn, make sure to use that held single.

Kume is a seamless sweater that includes versions to be knit either BOTTOM UP or TOP DOWN. You choose! It is the ideal companion of the Kume Cardigan.

The download includes 3 patterns:

The pattern features a cable detail at the side seams and sleeves and a folded neck for extra warmth.

Sample is knit in size 2 with 8-15 cm / (3.5-6”) of positive ease at the bust.

Sample is knit in size 2 (bottom-up) with 8 cm (3”) of positive ease at the bust in colorway Pudder.

Needles
5.5 mm / US9 circular needle, cable length 80 cm / 32” for the body (or needle size to obtain gauge) and a shorter cable or dpns to work the sleeves and yoke.

5 mm / US8 circular needle, cable length 80 cm / 32” for the ribbing (or needle size to obtain gauge) and a shorter cable or dpns to work the cuff and collar.

Gauge
16 sts x 17 rows =1 0x10cm/4x4” in stockinette stitch in the round after blocking.

Yarn
The Kume cardigan was originally worked in Nutiden Yarn by Honer och Eir (100% unspun wool). This yarn comes in 100 gr plates. For the sweater sample, Snefnug by CaMaRose was used.

Yardage: 923 (1000, 1074, 1150) (1225, 1301, 1377) (1425, 1505, 1575) m / 1010 (1093, 1175, 1258) (1339, 1423, 1506) (1539, 1623, 1706) yds) of Heavy Worsted/Aran-weight yarn.
