“The black magic of Mulholland Drive
Swimming pools under desert skies
Drinking white wine in the blushing light
Just another LA devotee”
Panic at the Disco – LA Devotee

Be ready to bathe yourself in the city lights in this geometric cowl. It is inspired by the song above, and the video the goes with it featuring lots of flashing city lights against a black night sky. This cowl is double knit the whole way through (which may seem like a LOT of knitting – trust me it is), but the end result is stunning and is definitely worth the effort. The pattern is easily memorised and the knitting itself is pretty straightforward, so makes for great TV knitting! And if you want a longer cowl, just keep knitting to your heart’s content, though do remember to buy some extra yarn if you are going for that option.

If you want, feel free to splash out a bit with some fantastic hand-dyed sock yarn, and show case it fabulously in this project. The cowl featured in the photos was made using a gorgeous ball of Spun Right Round sock yarn (from Etsy) in the Glow Bugs colourway, paired with a cheap ball of black acrylic fingering weight (which baby soft despite what it sounds). So go wild with your colours and yarn choices, and do something out-there, daring, and see the spectacular results!

This cowl is knit as one long rectangle with the ends fake grafted or sewn together with whatever preferred method.
