Many of my friends have requested a knit replication of their cherished pet. I’ve decided to share some of the designs with the knitting community!

The Labrador Retriever, Labrador or just Lab, is one of the most popular dog breeds in the world. Funnily enough they originate from Newfoundland, not Labrador! Contrary to most pets, which can generally be found lounging about the house all day, many of these dogs have a day job and are frequently being employed in the first responder sector. The Labrador Retriever comes in three color shades: black, yellow and chocolate. But, luckily, your knitted pet can come in any color you like!

This Labrador was knitted on 2.00 mm double pointed needles (UK 14, US 0) in Scheepjes Merino Soft (606) Da Vinci combined with a strand of Lana Grossa Silkhair (115) golden brown and Lana Grossa Together (16) raw white. For the bandana 2 plies from strands of Schachenmayr Merino Extrafine (101) white, (130) scarlet and (132) wine were used to knit the pattern. The instructions for the bandana are included in the pattern.

This model measures 14 cm from nose to bum, the tail is 6 cm long. Soft toy filling and pipe cleaners were used to fill and strengthen the Labrador. This project is an easy to medium knit, it asks for some knitting in the round and minor short row knitting. Knitting the bandana asks for intarsia knitting and is quite challenging.
