I love knitting doilies! Small, intricate pieces that I have no use for in the general way. (The boxful of them in my closet proves that.) When a friend said she was looking for a doily to use as a clock face, I was intrigued and had to play with the shaping of a doily to make one of my own.

Size: 12 inch doily = 60 Rnds, in laceweight yarn.
28 inch doily = 86 Rnds, in DK weight yarn
Yarn: Red Heart Classic Crochet Thread (100% cotton) or J&P Knit-Cro-sheen (100% cotton) , 300 yards (274 meters)/ 55 grams
Lion Brand Mandala Sequins 98% Acrylic 2% Polyester, 295 yards (270 meteres)/3.5 ounces/100 grams

Needles: US1 (2.25 mm) dpns or circular needles, or size needed to obtain gauge, for your preferred method of knitting in the Rnd. (Lace weight version)
US 5 (3.75 mm) dpns and circular needles for your preferred method of knitting in the Rnd. (DK version)

Notions: Crochet hook in the same size as your knitting needles for cast on and optional crochet bind off, stitch marker(s).
Optional: 12 inch clock, bugle beads (to be sewn on for numerals), 48 upholstery tacks for attaching doily to clock face or a child sized hula hoop or poly-tubing (for art piece) additional yarn for attaching piece to hoop, or elastic for mounting to clock base.

Gauge: Lace Weight: 26 sts and 32.5 rows = 4 inches (10cm)
DK Weight: 20 sts and 24.5 rows = 4 inches (10cm)

Notes

• Worked from the center out
• Crochet chain bind off or a simple lace bind off can be used.
• Gauge is not critical to these pieces; however, knitters gauge and choice of materials will impact finished sizes and yarn needed.
